Opened: February 2011
Serves: 4 Female Residents
The Sequoia program provides housing for 4 ladies who have their own studio apartments which are connected with a common area, dining room, kitchen and laundry room. 24 hour staffing is provided and the staff have their own office space connected to the common area. Staff provide assistance in all levels of care to ensure health and safety and honor personal choice as well as promote independence.
A note from the Program Coordinator:
Sequoia is a fun place to work at. There are days where it is high energy and fast paced and other days when the ladies decide to relax. The staff here really and truly works together as a team. Everyone is willing to help cover shifts if we are short staffed, or jump right in to help a staff or resident during challenging times. As a result, the staff turnover in the last 2 years has been incredibly low.
A note from the Staff:
For fun with the residents we do a variety of things, some of our favorites are:
*Going on community outings *Celebrating resident’s birthdays
*Going for walks *Playing games
*Going on drives *Having dance parties
*Going to the park *Having holiday parties
*Going to the beach *Going to the aquatic center
*Attending bingo night *Going to Special Olympics Events
*Watching movies *Going to baseball games
*Going to the fair
Our co-workers are amazing because they:
*Cook meals *Clean up and do chores at the house
*Are willing to cover shifts *Help with difficult situations
*Go above and beyond *Communicate about the day
*Are great at teamwork *Give notice if there are changes
*Make going on outings a priority
My Favorite part about working at Sequoia is:
*My co-workers are always willing to help and they are awesome.
*Getting to know each person we support is amazing.
*The resident’s are so sweet and so much fun to work with.
*Everyone’s attitudes are amazing and we all get along so well.
*The resident’s are so friendly and so is the staff.
*Going on outings with the residents is a great time.
*We get to enjoy different activities with the residents we support.
*Working in a comfortable environment with great people.
*Working with helpful and caring staff and wonderful ladies.
Employee of the Month!
Sabrina has been an exceptional staff since day one of Benco. Sabrina's documentation is EXTREMELY thorough each and every day, she has not received a medication or documentation error since her date of hire. Since becoming APC she has blasted through the long lists of "to-do's" from past QA's and self assessments - much of which was without being asked to do each thing. She is neat, organized, great penmanship, always arrives early for her shifts and is a very quick learner. She self-starts many tasks, and can multitask with ease. Sabrina definitely has earned this nomination many times over.
